David Byrne’s dazzling celebration of synchronized dance.
WHY WE PICKED IT: This beautifully filmed, eclectic, kinetic event boasts original music from artists including Saint Vincent, Nelly Furtado, and Ad-Rock.
Legendary musician and former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne’s “Contemporary Color” is an all-star color guard concert and performance art event staged at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center in the summer of 2015 and hits the big screen in this documentary from brothers and filmmakers Bill and Turner Ross. Pairing color guard groups (synchronized dance troupes who often perform using flags, rifles, and sabers) from around the country with contemporary musicians, Byrne creates a mesmerizing spectacle of art and athleticism.
